Journal Rules

Astral Society Rules ; subject to update.

Note: Though the nature of the Journal environment is different to that of the forum -- with specific forum rules being omitted as a result -- these rules are still expected to be followed; though a certain amount of extra elasticity is afforded to the community's members.

Section 1: General Provisions

(1) Behavior: We ask that all members conduct themselves in a manner consistent with both online message boards and basic human integrity. Antisocial behavior such as goading, flaming, discrimination (be that on grounds of age, race, sexuality, education level, etc) is liable to result in disciplinary action, the aspects of which will be detailed later in this post. We fully encourage free speech -- but not at the expense of a friendly, positive atmosphere.

(2) Information: Unless otherwise indicated, all information posted is the intellectual property of its author, and thus should not be reproduced outside of the forum domain without their express permission.

(3) Multiple Accounts: Additional accounts will be deleted on sight, there is no justification for them.

(4) Personal Risk: Administrators, Moderators and Staff cannot be held accountable for consequences that may result from the use of metaphysical-orientated techniques and methods posted around the forum. In all cases both the responsibility and the risk lies exclusively with the user.

(5) Recreational Drugs: Presently, the discussion of recreational drug use is prohibited on the forum, the principal reason being so as to not complicate and/or further muddy an already murky field (namely, metaphysics). Offhand remarks and lighthearted comments are permitted, within reason, and on the appropriate boards.

(6) Metaphysical Leaning: Astral Society is fundamentally a website focused on the exploration, understanding and discussion of metaphysical phenomena. While we encourage people of all experience-levels, mindsets, predispositions, belief systems, philosophies and educational backgrounds to join in and participate on the forum, we do ask that members refrain from outright debunking, skepticism or (for that matter) baseless certitude unless relevant to the topic at hand. If you have an axe or two to grind, start your own thread. The topic always comes first -- personal agenda, second.

(7) Respect The Staff: The staff dedicate their time and energy to ensure the smooth running of the site -- please try to be aware of this at all times and modify your behavior accordingly. If you have an issue with a particular member of staff we ask that you either contact an administrator, or, if you feel that the issue also demands the attention of the community as a whole, use the Talk To Staff board, located at the top of the forum. Please do not let your personal grievances spill over into public view -- if you show us no respect we're liable to do likewise.

Section 2: Posting Guidelines

(1) Personal Insults: These will not be tolerated and will be deleted on sight, and a record made of the member making the insult.

(2) Spam: By our definition spamming is the persistent posting of meaningless, irrelevant garbage. Again, this will be deleted on sight, and most likely the member banned if they are unable to discontinue.

(3) Signature Images: 500 pixels in width and 150 pixels in height -- no larger.
